LSI Product ID: sur-0850-00

The lightweight UNI-PAC (U) has been designed to provide a means for small utility aircraft to successfully airdrop a six to nine person life raft and survival accessories to survivors in the water. The kit is hand launched from an exit door or hatch in the aircraft. The system includes an adjustable cylindrical container which permits the user to add or delete items to maintain required equipment and normal size and shape for the mission and aircraft application.

THE SYSTEM INCLUDES
  • Environmentally packaged, Multi-Person Life Raft (6-9 person) raft size available in 6-man capacity.
  • Floating retrieval line
  • Float Marker Buoy
  • Soft Canister with Handles
  • Survival Kit (optional)

THE UNI-PAC (U) CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING MAJOR COMPONENTS:

  1. Flexible, lightweight, expandable cylindrical container
  2. Automatically activated 6-9 person, twin-tube life raft with self-erecting canopy, insulated floor, and boarding ramp.
  3. 200 feet floating retrieval line
  4. Water activated float marker
  5. Break-away deployment bag
  6. Optional kit at the discretion of the User – optional kit normally includes water, signal flares, and first aid kit.
  7. Note: Survival Accessories ADD to the size/weight of the kit.

DEPLOYMENT RESTRICTIONS:

  1. The air-drop window or door must be at least 16” in diameter or larger
  2. The air-drop canister should not interfere with engine nacelle, antenna, or any part of the air frame.
  3. Examples: Side Doors behind props on most aircraft are acceptable. Hatches or Windows in the belly or rear of the aircraft are also acceptable launch points

DEPLOYMENT PROCEDURE:

  1. Attach static line / Deployment bag to a hard point no more than three feet from door or hatch that system is to be launched from.
  2. Toss or drop canister nose first out the door or through the hatch.
  3. Static line / Deployment bag initiates deployment of life raft
  4. Falling life raft extracts retrieval line bags from deployment bag attached to aircraft
  5. Three line bags deploy spreading 300 feet if retrieval line is perpendicular to the survivors in water.
  6. Float marker is extracted from deployment bag and break cord releases the deployment bag from the static line.
  7. 13 foot static line is retrieved back into aircraft. Note: there are no metal snaps or hardware on the static line to damage any part of the air frame.
  8. Water activated float marker inflates in the water at the trail end of the 200 foot retrieval line, with the other end attached to the inflated life raft.
  9. The system in the water will float to and encircle survivors in the water.
