The Crew Survival System (CSS), designed in conjunction with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, is a two-person, 48 hour modular Survival Ruck with “Bug Out Bag,” functionality. Designed to replace legacy aircrew survival kits weighing 80+ lbs, the CSS kit weighs just 23lbs. The bag and its contents were thoroughly reviewed for efficiency and effectiveness, splitting the kit into 3 modules. The variety in the modules enables ALSE shop personnel ease of management. Using a combination of US MIL-SPEC, NSN, modern upgraded survival aids, and MATBOCK’s Emergency Medical Aviator Bag (EMAB), LSI significantly reduced weight and bulk while maintaining protection of the bag’s contents from potential aircraft fluid damage.
