The CREW SURVIVAL SYSTEM (CSS) DESERT kit is a two-person, 48 hours modular Survival Ruck for operations over desert terrain. The CSS Kit series was designed to replace legacy Aircrew Survival Kits weighing over 80LBS. The CSS Desert Kit’s bag and contents were thoroughly reviewed for efficiency and effectiveness while keeping the kit lightweight (25LBS). Specially designed for an Aircrew working over the Sahara Desert, LSI modified the CSS Kit to combat the unique challenges faced in a desert environment. Enhancing the original CSS Kit, the CSS Desert Kit incorporates tools to aid in building shelter in an area with little vegetation and a fourth module for signaling.
